After several tremendously successful workshops of one of
Audra Lord’s newest plays,
The New Theatre Project will present the world premiere of "Fugue," Nov. 30-Dec. 18.
Pay-what-you-can previews take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. Regular performances will take place December 2-18, Fridays through Sundays at 8 p.m.
In a bleak, institutional space, James, Julie, Tina and Princess Stephanie recover from a shared tragic event that resulted in the complete loss of their memories. "Fugue" follows their attempts to remember, to forget, and to piece together their shared and individual identities. Is it better to leave the past behind? Or to remember, no matter what the cost?
The cast features
Jon Ager, Dan Johnson, Keith Paul Medelis, Linda Rabin Hammell, and
Jamie Weeder under the direction of
Luna Alexander. The production features the design work of Medelis (scenic),
Janine Woods Thoma (lighting), and
Ben Stange (costumes). "Fugue" is stage managed by
Carla Angeloni.
The New Theatre Project is located at 130 W. Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti at the Mix Studio Theater. Mix, a new and used clothing boutique, is open for business prior to all performances.
