Rising hip-hop star Mac Miller will play the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center on April 4, EMU announced today. Tickets go on sale to the general public April 27.

The Pittsburgh native released his debut on Rostrum Records, "K.I.D.S.," in 2010. After a handful of mixtapes, he followed up with 2011's "Blue Slide Park."

Best known for the singles “Donald Trump” and “Nikes on my Feet,” Miller was named the iTunes 2011 Hip Hop Breakthrough Artist of the Year. In addition, DJBooth.net raved about "Blue Slide Park," saying, “after Blue Slide Park it’s going to become increasingly hard not to pay attention to Mac Miller.”

Miller returns to the area following his sold-out show at the Fillmore Detroit in November.

Tickets are $30 and go on sale Friday Jan. 27, 10am at www.emutix.com or by phone at 734-487-2282.

Miller will take the stage at EMU’s Convocation Center on Wednesday, April 4. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m. The Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center is located at 799 N. Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti. All ages are welcome.

Also: one of the (many) concerts I've been to was Godsmack and Staind at the EMU Convocation Center back in 1999. Good show, which featured a very drunk Sully Erna inviting the crowd onstage to drink beer from a keg (EMU didn't sell alcohol at that show, don't know if they do now).

SW40: Go ahead and puke, because EMU brings in nationally known acts to the Convocation Center to MAKE MONEY. They sure aren't profiting largely from any other things, like football. Did you complain when Bob Seger or Bruce Springsteen played EMU? Doubt it. Also, the University of Michigan Student Union books rap/hip-hop concerts, the most prominent being Ludacris a few years ago. Colleges have to profit like any other place, especially with education cutbacks.

How about we give someone a CHANCE!! would it be better if he was out in the streets killing people, robbing people or selling drugs?? he is trying to make a life for himself and you still have to talk about him!!! And just because he is a Rapper does not mean that is what his music is about!! Give him a chance!!! WOW

Geoff Larcum, Would you like to comment on why EMU would bring another artist to campus whose only claim to fame is rapping about smoking weed, drinking alcohol and buying shoes. I guess Wiz Khalifa wasn't good enough for EMU. Anybody want to wager a guess at why EMU has a graduation rate of 35%? Perhaps EMU should start acting like a University and not a community college. I hope our state government starts connecting graduation rates to university funding, I'm ashamed to be an EMU graduate today. It isn't enough that in the last ten years we've dealt with the President's House Scandal, Laura Dickenson Murder cover-up. a number of professor strikes and countless other stories that have cost EMU's reputation dearly, but on top of it all EMU continues to pander to the worst amongst us, a bunch of nit wit suburban teeny boppers who glorify alcohol abuse, marijuana smoking and materialistic behavior. But hey maybe enrollment will go up another 1.4 percent with no enrollment standards. I wonder why UofM doesn't have these type of events on their campus, perhaps they see themselves as a first rate university tasked with educating young people and not a haven for thugs and criminals. Go Eagles, I'm gonna puke.
