Pioneer Theatre Guild's Student Productions program showcases original work

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Arguably the most uniquepart of the Pioneer High School Theatre Guild performance season, Student Productions is a project completely guided by students with the help of a directing mentor and a writing mentor—a series of six plays written by, directed by, performed by and teched by students.

This year, Student Productions artists worked with Joe Zettelmaier (award-winning local playwright) as the mentor for the student playwrights, and Keith Paul Medelis (artistic director of The New Theatre Project) as the mentor for the student directors.

Show times are Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Pioneer's Little Theatre, at 601 W. Stadium Blvd. General admission tickets cost $7.

Shows in the "Stud Pros" program this year include:

• "Magistra Iaccifilius, deripe hic murum!" by Jonathan Jue-Wong

• "Hurts, Don’t It," by Sarah Long

• "Uncivil Unions," by Michael Shapiro

• "Winnipeg" by Amelia Diehl

• "Paintballs and Tomatoes" by Heather Jue-Wong

• "The Rogue and the Damsel" by Kaitlin Peterson
