Performance Network, the Purple Rose, the Encore, and Ann Arbor Civic take hardware home from the Wilde Awards
Area theaters — Ann Arbor's Performance Network and Blackbird Theatre, Chelsea's Purple Rose Theatre, and Dexter's Encore Theatre — earned numerous nominations, and when it came time to announce the winners, three of these companies took home hardware (and Ann Arbor Civic Theatre earned a special award).
Here's a list of local winners:

Also, Wilde-r Awards —Â which are lighthearted, honorary "for fun" awards that don't involve a statuette —Â were announced for local companies as well. "Best performance by a man, stuffed," went to Juan in the Purple Rose show "Wake"; "Best upstaging by a 4 legged cast member" went to the dog that played Sandy in Encore's "Annie"; and the "It's so groovy" award went to the Blackbird Theatre's "Midsummer Night's Dream," with its '60s-themed set by Monika Essen.
