PKO is a sprawling band consisting of a vocalist, pianist, drummer, brass band and Paul Keller leading on string bass. Their body of music includes "classic, obscure and original big band material from the entire history of jazz," according to their website.

It's sure to be a swinging evening with a band that has years of performing experience and the acclaim to match.

Friday, February 15, 2013. 8-11 p.m. $10. The Grotto is located at 2070 W Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor. 734-663-1202

The University Musical Society gets "The Fickle-Finger of Fate Award" for the most bizarre and confusing logo ever conceived. It looks like a warehouse photo of "Smiley Faces" upside and down. It reminds me (excuse my French) of those diagrams showing how only some sperm fertilizes an egg!

Great group! They provide opportunities for young musicians to play with them at the Zal Gaz occasionally. My niece had the chance last summer and she enjoyed the experience immensely!
