Ann Arbor summer camps 2010 - A lifetime of memories for kids and help for busy parents
Tammy Mayrend | contributor
Students everywhere have begun the countdown to summer vacation, and with the fabulous Ann Arbor weather of late who can blame them?
Working parents of school-aged children, however, have begun the planning: Where will my child go when I am working? What summer camp is perfect for my child? If my child doesn’t already participate with a before- or after-school care program, where can I send them during the summer when I am at work?
Some parents already know where their child can go when they are working, especially if they have other children enrolled in pre-school programs or if their child is already familiar with staff members at some of the wonderful daycare programs throughout Ann Arbor. Maybe too, parents have neigbors, family or friends willing to watch to kids while they work. But what about the rest of the working parents?

All of them are fantastic summer opportunities for your children to attend summer camp, develop new skills, and most importantly allow your children to have a memorable summer filled with friendships and fun!

Dear Tammy, It was so great for you to do this story on summer camps last spring. Hopefully you will write another one for spring 2011. The Mostly Music Camp would love to be part of that article, and will willingly provide any information that you would wish to have prior to the publication. you didn't list Varsity Day Camp in Pinckney in your near Ann Arbor list, I went there for 3 summers and know a lot of Arborites went there as well. I had so much fun there when I was little. Mr and Mrs Wiz were wonderful!

I loved sending mine to camp every year. I always looked forward to it. Sadly, the one we loved closed. I may look into some others to be a filler, but when yours is entering 8th grade, they want to hit the pool with their friends. Not hanging out making paper mache. Thank you for the great post. The one we do send her to every year isn't posted unless I am missing it. Camp Storer outside Jackson. That is one awesome camp. Ours goes for 2 weeks. She would go all summer if we could afford it. Good luck choosing.

Thanks for adding the programs at Summers Knoll, Edward. I didn't include any of the summer programs at local Ann Arbor childcare or daycare centers however they also offer great opportunities for children during the summer!
