Music Makers group - and 98-year-old director - take advantage of Pianos 'Round Town in Ypsilanti

By Daniel Brenner

For the third straight year, Depot Town and downtown Ypsilanti are playing host to "Pianos 'Round Town," a participatory event in which pianos are placed on sidewalks at strategic locations, with anyone passing by encouraged to start playing them.

Tuesday, members of a local singing group called the Music Makers—after a scheduled performance at Superior Woods Healthcare Center—decided to stop off at the Sidetrack and take advantage of one of the "'Round Town" pianos.

The piano player was Donna Hewitt, director of the group, who is set to celebrate her 99th birthday later this month.

Photographer Daniel Brenner captured these images. For more information on Pianos 'Round Town, which continues through Monday, check the events calendar or Facebook page.
