Mittenfest raises $15,000 for 826michigan
Last year, Mittenfest brought in $12,000 for 826michigan, and organizers were hoping to top that this year. Now, a post on the group's website announces that they did: This year's Mittenfest V raised $15,000.
The annual, four-day local music celebration in Ypsilanti has come a long way quickly; as the post notes, the first Mittenfest raised just under $1,000. The event uses musicians based in Michigan or with Michigan ties to benefit 826michigan, an Ann Arbor-based nonprofit focused on writing education. This year's event was at Woodruff's in Depot Town.
There's more about Mittenfest on the 826michigan website and the Mittenfest website; and if you missed them, also check out the slideshow and a preview article from AnnArbor.com

This is awesome, congratulations, 826 Michigan! As someone who represents one of the agencies that 826 Michigan collaborates with, I could not be happier. This little nonprofit is creative, collaborative, and best of all, has a "can-do" approach to everything. Amanda and Amy - you guys rock!
