Strike up the bands: Milan Bluegrass Festival kicks off on Thursday

For its 12th year, the Milan Bluegrass Festival returns for three days of music. Jim and Fay Wilder present the event, which features more than a dozen bluegrass performers. This year's headliners include Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, and The Grascals.

Milan Bluegrass Festival, August 13-15 at KC Campground, 14048 Sherman Road, Milan. $35 per day or $65 for three-day pass. 12 and under free. 12:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Thursday, noon-11:30 p.m. Friday, noon-11:15 p.m. Saturday. 734-439-1076.

I'm thrilled to hear about this festival! But wow -- $35 per day?! PER PERSON? That's pretty steep considering the economic climate in SE Michigan. I hope that they have a great turnout. Milan is an adorable little town.

Should have called it the Milatucky bluegrass festival, more appealing.
