By Jenn McKee

June 24 marks the debut of a new Aaron Sorkin ("The West Wing") television drama on HBO, "The Newsroom," starring Chelsea native and Purple Rose Theatre Co. founder/executive director Jeff Daniels. A first glimpse of the show recently surfaced online.

In the show, Daniels plays a news anchorman who, after years of keeping quiet about his opinions, suddenly explodes with them in front of a live audience.

Daniels’ co-stars include Olivia Munn, Allison Pill (Daniels’ co-star in the off-Broadway show “Blackbird”), John Gallagher Jr. (“Glee” and “Spring Awakening” Tony Award winner), and Emily Mortimer, among others.

Jeff Daniels has big things going on currently. Him and Jim Carrey just agreed to star in Dumb and Dumber 2. Should be a big payday for him.
