Volunteers needed for Saturday's HomeGrown Festival
The sixth annual HomeGrown Festival — a celebration of what's beautiful, delicious, and amazing about our region — is two days away, and organizers are looking for a few more helpful food-loving volunteers.
Laura Meisler, one of the festival organizers, says that much like the name of the festival would suggest, HomeGrown is all about grass-roots community support.
"Each year we have over 200 volunteers work to set up, run and clean up after the festival, and we have a blast in the process," said Meisler. "I think the best-kept secret about HomeGrown is how much fun it is to be behind the scenes."

HomeGrown Festival takes place Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6-10 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St.
Interested in helping out? Head over to the volunteer page on the HomeGrown website. Jobs are still available in a variety of categories, including greeters, volunteer check-in, and beer tent activities.
"HomeGrown is a free event, and our planning team is committed to that idea," said Meisler. "Our amazing volunteers help keep our costs down, so we can keep it free for everyone."

Sounds fun. I hope there aren't any other major events happening that night in Ann Arbor.

If any automobiles or other goods are made in our region, they also could benefit from grass-roots community support.
