Chick-Fil-A has been national headline news for weeks now, and I've watched the debate over the politics and ethics involved play out in my Facebook feed. Most of the arguments are exactly what you'd expect, but there was one sentiment that kept getting repeated; one that caught me off guard.

"I'm sorry, I can't worry about the politics. I just won't give up my delicious Chick-Fil-A sandwich."

So what's so awesome about the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich? Michiganders have had little chance to find out. The only restaurant in the state is located on the campus of Oakland University, and according to the restaurant's voicemail, it's closed for the summer semester.

Never fear, curious poultry fans. Food blog SeriousEats.com's Food Lab has spent much time and effort figuring out the magic behind the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich. Serious Eats Chief Creative Officer J. Kenji Lopez-Alt reveals the step-by-step here, or you can skip right to the recipe.
