Lab Cafe on E. Liberty St. has started offering delicious macarons from Cecilia's Pastries. These melt-in-your-mouth concoctions, also available at the Saturday farmers market, are available in hazelnut, coconut, mango, jasmine, coffee and violet. Warning: once you have eaten one, you will become an instant addict. You will daydream about your next macaron. You will try to invent excuses to go downtown to buy another macaron. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The 2011 HomeGrown Local Food Summit date and location have been announced. Taking place on Tuesday, March 1, in the Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College, this third annual event will focus on the economic benefits of local food. Five Guys Burgers opened this week in the space formerly occupied by Shaman Drum on S. State St. Lunchtime lines have been long at this lauded chain that's reportedly favored by President Obama. Diners should be aware that despite their delicious reputation, Five Guys fries are among the most detrimental to your health, packing an incredible 1,464 calories and 71 grams fat in a large order.
If you're interested in enjoying fast food favorites with a locavore twist, be sure to visit Grange Kitchen & Bar during the month of February. Chef Brandon Johns has come up with a menu of old-school junk food favorites, made from scratch and featuring locally-sourced, sustainable ingredients. The menu will change weekly, featuring favorites like chicken nuggets, fried apple pie, house-made Twinkies and a boneless barbecue "Ribwich." For complete information, check out the Grange website.
Ann Arbor's Restaurant Week is in full swing. Lunch specials are $12, and three-course dinner specials are $25. Several restaurants are offering two-for-one deals. Do you plan to eat at one of the participating restaurants this week?
Long considered a favorite burger destination because of their use of Knight's ground beef, Cubs' A.C. at Colonial Lanes on South Industrial has recently revamped their burger menu, offering 11 new burgers based on the teams in college football's Big Ten. You can also partake of their giant 3 1/2 pound "Stadium Burger" if you're feeling particularly peckish.

I'm pretty sure that the "Home grown festival" is an event that occurs in mid September at the Farmer's Market. The local food summit is a totally different event. Please confirm and correct.
