Krazy Jim's is now Krazy Pierre's: Blimpy Burger under new ownership
Edward Vielmetti | AnnArbor.com
It’s a tradition in transition. After 18 years under the watchful eye of owner Rich Magner, Ann Arbor's burger institution Blimpy Burger has been purchased by a French restaurateur.
Patrons will see an immediate change in both the décor and the menu. The familiar burger menu will remain, but the focus has shifted to traditional French cuisine, and the cafeteria line has been replaced by sit-down, white tablecloth table service.
Joel Cronenwett, a Blimpy Burger staffer, confirmed the changes.Â
“The restaurant has been renamed Krazy Pierre's Bourgeois Burger," Cronenwett said. We’ll have French soups, prime rib, French desserts and even flaming Crêpes Suzette. We’ll still have our regular burgers on the menu, but we’re excited to be offering a this new upscale menu and service."

It's about time they added white table cloths to that place. Now all they need to do is add butter & radishes to the menu.

There are *sooo* many French restaurants in Ann Arbor that I think the market is full. What Ann Arbor really needs is a French-Canadian establishment. Imagine the cuisine! Imagine the decor! It would have a ready clientele with the International Center so close.

I'm impressed with how far Krazy Jim's took the joke. When I drove past on an errand last night, they had temporary signs with the "new name" over the real ones and beret-wearing staff visible through the window.

this was hard to read, being in a serious mode here at work, I was going to rip off my clothes and run out into traffic, glad someone identified it as April 1st foolery! Blimpy Burgers is an institution no one should mess with.

I felt like my head was going to explode when I first read the headline, and was about to write an extremely angry rant. Glad I thought about it a little before going off half cocked.

Still have their old slogan: "Cheaper than Food"? When I was a freshman, We used to slip out our courtfloor window at West Quad and run to Krazy Jim's before they closed at midnight and bring back our burgers and drive everyone else crazy in the TV lounge (yes, that was before each room had their own flat screen TV)

Har-har-har-har. I'm pretty sure any flames inside would ignite a grease-fueled inferno.
