Ann Arbor Student Food Co. (farm stand). 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Ingalls Mall, 915 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor's only student-run food stand provides fresh, affordable produce to those working and studying on campus. Come by and pick up some fresh fruit and veggies. The stand is located at the North University entrance to Ingalls Mall, between Hill Auditorium and the Michigan League.

Binc Zombie Apocalypse. 3-5 p.m. Arbor Brewing Co., 114 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor. The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (formerly Borders Foundation) offers our fall fundraising event, “Zombie Apocalypse”! Saline Farmers Market. 8 a.m.-noon. On Ann Arbor Street just south of Michigan Avenue in Saline. Fresh local produce and fruit are on offer, as well as local cheese, butter, honey, maple syrup, jams, eggs, meat, coffee and baked goods. Also available are flowers, plants, hanging baskets, planters, annuals, perennials, and vegetable and herb plants. There are a variety of hand-crafted items such as wood bowls and pens, jewelry, garden art, soap and more, all created by local artisans. Master Gardeners from the Michigan State University Master Gardener program are available to answer questions at the market during May, June and September. Bridge Cards, Senior Project Fresh and WIC (Women with Infant Children) Project Fresh coupons can be redeemed to buy fresh produce and fruit at our Market. Patrons can visit the Bridge Card booth at the Saturday Saline Farmers Market and obtain wooden tokens in $1 increments for the amount requested to be added to their Bridge Card. Tokens can be redeemed at the Tuesday Saline Farmers Market but can only be purchased at the Saturday Market. Polenta the Italian Way with Francesca Giarraffa. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Whole Foods, 3135 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. Polenta is a popular comfort food in Italy, particularly in the north of Italy where polenta, and not pasta, is the traditional main staple. Francesca teaches you how to make a home-made polenta in the traditional Italian way and offers you several variations. The first version is topped with sautéed wild mushrooms served in a cream sauce. Next enjoy it with sausage and cheese. Finally experience Polenta triangles topped with a fresh tomato sauce, basil, and parmesan cheese shavings, served with a mixed salad. This class is held in the Cooking and Lifestyles Classroom. $45. Gluten Free Gourmet 3. 6:30-9:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Cooks, 5060 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. Are you living with a gluten allergy, or intolerance, or perhaps just interested in modifying your diet? If you've been trying to navigate the gluten-free world and are a little overwhelmed, or seek more helpful information, these classes are designed to provide education and plenty of new ideas! Each class section features a unique menu. Menu: Salmon cakes with remoulade, quinoa salad (with lemon-yogurt dressing), sweet potato biscuits (with orange butter and homemade jam) and glazed chocolate (flourless) cake. Milan Senior Nutrition Program. 11:45 a.m. Milan Senior & Community Activity Center, 45 Neckel Court, Milan. In partnership with the Washtenaw County Senior Nutrition Program, they offer a nutritionally balanced meal three afternoons a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There is a suggested donation of $2.50 for anyone who is 60 years or older and a fee of $5 for anyone under the age of 60. They do ask for 48 hour advanced reservations. Call or stop by the office.

Tuesday
Rustic Italian Cooking: A Taste of Northern Italy - Tuscany with Francesca Giarraffa. 5:30-8:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Whole Foods, 3135 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. Travelers to Italy may be surprised at the diversity of its regional cuisine. We invite you to spend two delicious culinary evenings with our native Italian cooking instructor exploring dishes from northern Italy. Each night a complete rustic Italian meal featuring an entree, side dish and dessert will be prepared and enjoyed together. Week one includes quail (wrapped in pancetta, topped with mixed dry herbs, then baked and served with mushrooms and truffle oil risotto), roasted butternut squash salad (with fresh rosemary and balsamic vinaigrette) and Piedmont style baked stuffed peaches (with amaretti cookies and pine nuts). Week two includes baked stuffed turkey breast (with parmigiano and pecorino romano cheeses, prociutto, herbs and homemade bread crumbs, topped with a white wine cream sauce and served with homemade potato puree) a mixed roasted root vegetable and cream caramel. Benefit Dinner for Imagine Community. 6-9 p.m. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 306 N. Division St., Ann Arbor. Join us for a benefit dinner with live music by the Community High Jazz Band and Five Miles More. Dinner sponsored by local restaurants and bakeries. All proceeds benefit the Imagine Community Activity Center, where those without homes receive employment and housing outreach and resources, and are enriched with artistic and educational activities. Release Party: Dubbel. 6-8 p.m. Arbor Brewing Co., 114 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor. Join us for the Phat Abbot Belgian Dubbel Release Party. Our Dubbel is a dark, rich Belgian abbey style ale made with Trappist yeast and dark Belgian candy sugar for a more traditional, malty trappist character. Tasting notes: Deep mahogany with a rich, complex palate. Toffee, toasted malts, dried dark fruits, and sweet candy sugar balanced by a subtle earthy, woodsy quality and spicy hops. 9th Annual Taste of Tantre. 7 p.m. Zingerman's Events on Fourth, 415 N. Fifth Ave., Ann Arbor. For the ninth year in a row we are inviting local food lovers to help us complete the farm-to-table circle and enjoy the best food of the season elbow-to-elbow with the people who grew it — the folks from Tantre Farm. The details of the multi-course meal remain secret until the last moment, since Chef Rodger and his kitchen crew hand-select most of the fresh ingredients the morning of the feast!
