Today
Ninth annual Ann Arbor Wine Cellar. 6:30 p.m. Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor, 2275 Platt Road, Ann Arbor. The event, which includes a wine tasting, raffle and silent auction will benefit the HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC). $50 in advance or $60 at the door. Ann Arbor's Pack 5 Cub Scouts - 60th Annual Pancake Supper. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Eberwhite Elementary, 800 Soule Blvd., Ann Arbor. The public is invited to join Ann Arbor's Pack 5 Cub Scouts for its 60th Annual Pancake Supper. An "all-you-care-to-eat" supper of pancakes, ham, applesauce, and beverages will be served. Pack 5 is comprised of boys attending Bach and Eberwhite Elementary Schools. Thursday Night Rush Hour Relief at the Wine Bar. 5-8:30 p.m. Cranbrook Whole Foods, 990 W. Eisenhower Parkway, Ann Arbor, at the wine bar. Each Thursday evening, experts lead an exploration of wine, cheese and appetizers. This week’s topic: Beaujolais Nouveau and wines for the Thanksgiving table. 734-997-7500.

International Neighbors: A Taste of Thanksgiving. 1-2:30 p.m. Westminster Presbyterian Church social hall, 1500 Scio Church Road, Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor Student Food Co. (farm stand). 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Ingalls Mall, 915 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor's only student-run food stand provides fresh, affordable produce to those working and studying on campus. Come by and pick up some fresh fruit and veggies. The stand is located at the North University entrance to Ingalls Mall, between Hill Auditorium and the Michigan League.

Kids' Thanksgiving Cupcakes. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Ann Arbor Cooks, 5060 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. This class is for children ages 8 and older. Come join us for an afternoon full of seasonal cupcake baking and decorating. This class is focused on letting you express your creativity in the kitchen! Kids Are Chefs, Too! 10 a.m.-noon. Matthaei Botanical Gardens, University of Michigan 1800 N. Dixboro Road, Ann Arbor. Release your inner chef. Learn how the original Thanksgiving celebration used native plants and items brought from Europe, while today’s Thanksgiving feasts include foods from around the world. Learn to make foods from native plants as well as plants brought by immigrants and explorers to America. The Nature of Chocolate. 1-3 p.m. Leslie Science and Nature Center, 1831 Traver Road, Ann Arbor. This indulgent program will have you learning about the natural and cultural history of one of America’s favorite treats. Evolving from a ceremonial beverage to a candy that represents love, this interpretive program will show how chocolate was shaped throughout history, where it grows today and how it is manufactured into a wide variety of treats. Kids' Awesome Apple Desserts. 7-10 p.m. Ann Arbor Cooks, 5060 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. This is a kids-only class for children ages 8 and up. Come on kids - let's celebrate apple season. In this class we'll make three different desserts using local apples and eat as we go along the way! Skills in this class include baking, mixing, whisking, peeling, and knife work. Poultry Expert Darrin Karcher Ph.D. Discusses The Eggs: What You Don't Know. 3-5 p.m. Ann Arbor District Library, Pittsfield branch, 2359 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, in the Program Room. Do you know where to find the chalaza in the egg? Do you know how to clean your eggs? Did you know there are green eggs? This presentation, co-sponsored by The Culinary Historians of Ann Arbor, will cover the formation of the egg, why thin shells occur, how to wash your eggs, and differences in nutritional content between brown and white eggs, as well as other questions that may arise. Dr. Darrin Karcher, of Michigan State University’s Department of Animal Science, has been charged with developing a strong poultry extension program. His interactions with the industry have involved educational programming and conducting applied research. His research program has worked to address concerns with turkey skeletal issues, laying hen nutrition, and laying hen welfare. He is currently managing the Coalition for Sustainable Egg Supply research project and close to completing a new laying hen research facility at Michigan State University. Autumn Puddings - Bread & Otherwise. 7-10 p.m. Ann Arbor Cooks, 5060 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. There's nothing more comforting than sitting down to a plate of warm decadent bread pudding. Indulge yourself into gooey goodness with these rich recipes great for holiday entertaining or any night of the week! Milan Senior Nutrition Program. 11:45 a.m. Milan Senior & Community Activity Center, 45 Neckel Court, Milan. In partnership with the Washtenaw County Senior Nutrition Program, they offer a nutritionally balanced meal three afternoons a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There is a suggested donation of $2.50 for anyone who is 60 years or older and a fee of $5 for anyone under the age of 60. They do ask for 48 hour advanced reservations. Call or stop by the office.

Tuesday
Teen Pizza Tasting. Noon. Saline District Library, 555 N. Maple, Saline, in the Brecon Room. All kids in sixth through 12th grade are invited to sample pizza from five local pizzerias and vote for their favorite. Free. Preregistration is required: 734-429-5450.

VegMichigan Veg 101. 7-8:30 p.m. Cranbrook Whole Foods, 990 W. Eisenhower Parkway, Ann Arbor. VegMichigan offers a fun and informative cooking class. Attendees will learn the nutritional aspects of a plant-based diet and taste samples of the prepared food. Our presenters will discuss how easy it can be to transform a standard meal into a delicious plant-based (no meat or dairy) option. Free. Cobblestone Farm farmer's market. 4-7 p.m. Located at the historic Cobblestone Farm, this market will feature local, organically grown produce every Tuesday evening beginning June 19. No admission charge; price of purchases. www.cobblestonefarmmarket.com.

Wednesday Evening Farmers Market. 4:30-8:30 p.m. Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St., Ann Arbor. At the Wednesday Evening Farmers Market, you'll find local produce and food from some of your favorite farmers and vendors from the Saturday and Wednesday markets, plus many innovative new vendors. There will be live music, food carts, and throughout the season a non-profit sponsored beer and wine garden, as well as educational food demos and more. Free admission. Wednesday Wine Tasting. 6 p.m. Paesano's Italian Restaurant, 3411 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. This informal wine tasting allows patrons to sample five up and coming wines from Italy. Joined by one of Paesano's knowledgeable wine purveyors, the staff creates tasty appetizers to accompany the bold flavors. $25. www.paesanosannarbor.com.
