Noodles Chinese Style with Angela Yang. 6-8 p.m. Ann Arbor Whole Foods, 31335 Washtenaw Ave., Ann Arbor. Using a traditional stir-fry technique, our instructor, Angela Yang, will share a few of her favorites from Southeast China and Taiwan: pan-fried noodles, rice noodles and cold sesame flavored noodles. Cook Michigan Cooking Contest. 1-3 p.m. Ypsilanti District Library, 5577 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti. Calling cooks ages 6 and up! YDL presents its second annual cooking contest as part of our Michigan Week celebration. Create a dish using at least one food made or grown in Michigan. Drop off your dish at any YDL location by 1 p.m. on May 21 to be entered into the contest. Judging will take place at our Whittaker Road location. Savour the Journey: A Celebration of the Things We Love About Life. 6:30 p.m. Fox Hills Golf Club, 8768 N. Territorial Road, Plymouth. The Arbor Hospice Foundation hosts this fundraising gala, designed to bring together sponsors and guests from all communities served by Arbor Hospice. Guests will enjoy wine, a strolling supper featuring selections by local celebrity chefs, decadent desserts, plus an evening of music featuring The Royce & Jenn Band and a live auction. More than 150 bottles of wine have also been donated by board members, committee members and community sponsors, each worth at least $25. Guests may purchase a $25 ticket to ‘pull’ a bottle of wine - they’re guaranteed to go home with a bottle worth the cost of the raffle ticket, with several bottles valued at more than $200.
