By Jessica Webster

Logan was one of six Ann Arbor-area restaurants on Zagat's Detroit top food rankings for 2011.

The new national Zagat restaurant guide is out, and the Detroit News reports that 20 Detroit-area restaurants rank among "America's Top Restaurants." Among those are five Ann Arbor restaurants (Zingerman's, eve the restaurant, West End Grill, Logan and The Earle) and the Common Grill in Chelsea.

My list of diners and dives for A2 would be very short... my point is not that we need a list of them, we just need more of them!

I don't think this article is correct. Only 3 restaurants ranked in the top (Logan, West End Grill, and Zingerman's.) The rest received honorable mention... And I do agree that it would be nice if they had a list for local restaurants that are not fine dining. However, I do believe that Zagat.com is for those seeking fine dining--or at least chef inspired food. The readers of Zagat.com are aware of this--if CynicA2 wants a list of diners and dives, I think you should create this site and send me a link!!!

Anyone who is interesting at dining at a dive-style restaurant should already know what the best places in town already are. And also what the best high-class restaurants are, for that matter. The only real reason for rankings like the Zagat guide are for those visiting from out-of-town who don't have anyone to ask for dining advice.

I don't get these kind of rankings. They are meaningless and nowhere near comprehensive and, yet, some lend them credence.

It is great to know that the rich can still get a decent meal for less than $100 a head (or so)... who would have guessed! What we really need are more "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" that hit the spot for mere mortals with less "disposable" income. I wish Guy Fieri would open a place here.

All great places to eat. I think they missed a few though! There are a lot more great places to eat in town. Congrats to the winners!
