My name is Allen Leibowitz, and I'll be writing about food and drink. I'm a Managing Partner in Zingerman's Coffee Company which was started 2003.

I roast, taste, evaluate and teach about coffee on a daily basis. I also enjoy other beverages and have a deep interest in how they're produced, who makes them and how we enjoy them. My interests range from the tea store in Kyoto to Kentucky Bourbon.

I've lived in Ann Arbor since attending the University of Michigan in 1978, from which I received a B.S. in computer science. Although I was born in Detroit, I grew up in the suburbs. I was lucky to have some neighbors who fostered culinary adventure at early age. As soon as I could drive, I started going to Detroit and Windsor to seek out different foods and new restaurants.

This interest has continued unabated for 30 years. I look forward to sharing experiences that can be found in the greater Detroit area and within easy reach of Ann Arbor.
