All the Brews Fit to Pint: Beer event bonzanza!
Fall seems to have arrived early, and as Washtenaw County residents begin to enjoy the fruits of the harvest, we also get to enjoy an embarrassment of riches in beer events. A few choice upcoming samples can be found after the jump.
Tonight, August 27, at 7pm Arbor Brewing and Mediterrano, 2900 S. State, restaurant are hosting a “strolling” beer dinner featuring seven Arbor brews paired with culinary creations by Mediterrano’s Chef Rob.
The beers include early releases of Arbor’s Jackhammer Old Ale and Olde #22 Altbier, the last batches of summer favorites Strawberry Blonde Ale and Bavarian Bliss Hefeweizen, as well as the ever-popular Red Snapper Ale, Sacred Cow India Pale Ale, and the Brasserie Blonde Ale. ABC owners Matt and Rene Greff also will be on hand to “mingle, nosh, and talk beer.”
The dishes? You’ll have to buy a ticket to find out, but you can browse Mediterrano’s delicious menu for an idea of Chef Rob’s creativity.
Speaking of tickets, they are $35 per person, $65 for couples, and $30 each for groups of three or more. Call Mediterrano at 734-332-9700 for details.
If you miss out tonight, be sure to make a date for this Sunday, August 30, at 4pm at Ypsilanti’s Corner Brewery, 720 Norris, where the Second Annual Backyard BBQ is calling your name. You know you want to come out to enjoy a pig roast and other delicacies, a special brew, and goofy competitions including “cornhole” and three-legged racing. A good time will surely be had by all.
Finally, on Tuesday, September 1, from 6-8pm at the Corner Brewery, Matt and Rene Greff will officially release the Jackhammer English Style Old Ale, a high-gravity (9% ABV) concoction “with hints of dark fruit and chocolate accentuated by hot buttered rum” and a “spicy finish with a robust hop counterbalance.” A sure sign fall has arrived! Sixpacks of this limited-release brew are 30% off and Jackhammer merchandise is 15% off during the party. Admission is free for Arbor and Corner mug club members and $15 for nonmembers.
Be sure to watch this space for coverage of other upcoming beer events, including the grand opening of Jolly Pumpkin, HomeGrown Festival beer tent at the Farmers Market, and downtown Oktoberfest block party on Washington St.
Until then, cheers!
