Ex-Ann Arborites' video has fun with drive for Robocop statue in Detroit
The controversial effort to put a statue of Robocop in Detroit has received a boost from a great new video on FunnyOrDie.com
The video was done by a couple of former Ann Arborites, Chris Farah and Mike Farah.
The Farah brothers are the filmmakers behind the recently completed feature movie "Answer This!" Mike Farah works as a producer for FunnyOrDie, a popular comedy website. The brothers grew up in Ann Arbor and still have family here, and "Trivial Pursuits!" is set at the University of Michigan — the first time U-M has allowed the university to portray itself in a fictional feature movie. "Answer This!," not yet released, is currently being shopped to film festivals.
In the Robocop video, Peter Weller — the actor who played the Robocop character in the 1987 movie — argues for the statue. Watch the video here:

The City of Ann Arbor should erect a statue of ME! (maybe in front of the new Police/Courts bldg...) Obviously the Video was satire!

If not Robocop, then Axel Foley from Beverly Hills Cop...he was originally from Detroit! I think this supposed to be something fun. Not every statue has to be made in memory of a fallen police officer. If such a statue is made, it should be done with private funds, but with all the serious matters Detroit is incessantly dealing with, maybe something light-hearted and fun is what the city needs.

I can think of other "realer" people from Detroit far more worthy of commemoration with a statue than some pop culture character who predicts the absolutely worst possible future for Detroit in an old grade-B sci-fi movie from twenty years ago. Maybe they should put plaques on buidings and do a walking tour of were the Purple Gang mafia killed people during prohibition? Or the site of the blind pig raid that ignited the 1967 riot? Or even realer: A little brass square on the sidewalk or buildings where every one of the 224 Detroit Police officers killed in the line of duty over the years fell. At least they were real people, eh? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Police_Department#Fallen_officers

The statue of the fist of Joe Louis I agree with. I do not think they should build a statue of Robocop. A waste of money.

A waste of private funding. I gave a dollar.
