Alternative comic Doug Benson is best known for his appearances on VH1's "Best Week Ever" and NBC's "Last Comic Standing," but he comes to the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase on Sunday, Oct. 4 in a gesture of appreciation for one of his other interests.

Between his acclaimed 2007 documentary "Super High Me" and The Marijuana-logues comedy show-turned-CD and book, Benson is, let's say, an outspoken advocate for marijuana decriminalization. This tour stops in states where medical marijuana has been legalized, traveling from Rhode Island to Hawaii to play 13 shows in 13 days.

This appearance also comes shortly after the release of "Unbalanced Load", his second stand-up CD. In addition to stoner humor, Benson tackles such topics as Twitter, tour guides, and of course, dealing with hecklers.
