Community High stages "Moon Over Buffalo"
Phil Walker is directing Community Ensemble Theater students in Ken Ludwig's light-hearted theater spoof, "Moon Over Buffalo," which runs February 4-7.
In "Moon," George and Charlotte Hay are long-married stage stars in the 1950s who, after earlier success on Broadway, have now been reduced to playing "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "Private Lives" in second-rate theaters in places like Buffalo. George and Charlotte once had dreams of Hollywood stardom, but their latest film auditions, for "The Scarlet Pimpernel," were a failure.
Enter their daughter and former ingénue, Roz; her new, weatherman fiancé, Howard; Roz’s former lover, Paul; and Roz’s pregnant replacement, Eileen. When film director Frank Capra calls and informs George and Charlotte that they might have a chance at Hollywood fame after all, and that Capra might attend a show performance in Buffalo, chaos ensues.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on February 4, 5, 6, and 2 p.m. on February 7, and performances happen at Community High School, 401 North Division (parking and the theater entrance are behind the main entrance, on Fifth Avenue, across from Kerrytown). Tickets are $15, ($10 for children, students and seniors) at the door. For more information, call 662-1693 and ask for Jennifer.
