Poetry and food? Explore the connections at Nicola's Books
Harold Rothbart, Publisher of Charing Cross Press is pleased to announce the publication of a new book by Marvin Brandwin. The book is titled "A Smorgasbord of Verse: easy to digest food poems.
The Author, Marvin Brandwin, is an emeritus professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Health System. After more than a half century of clinical experience with people, he applies his insights to a new constituency; food.
The book has been widely acclaimed. For example, Jan Longone, one of the leading Food Historians in the United States and Curator of American Culinary History at the University of Michigan has stated, "These delightful and delicious poems, with their wit and whimsy and their creativity and insight, bring a smile of recognition and remembrances of simple pleasures and days gone by."
Davy Rothbart, Creator of Found Magazine and Contributor to National Public Radio's "This American Life" has written, "Marvin Brandwin is a master of rhymed poetry. His delightful food poems have the humor of Ogden Nash, the charm of Mr. Rogers, and the creativity of Mozart. Give yourself the pleasure of dining on this 'Smorgasbord of Verse.'" Meet the author for a discussion and book signing at Nicola's Books in Westgate on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7p.m.
