Fleeting moments

By Spencer Baily

Grains of sand slip through the glass As moments pass us by Years from now will we look back And maybe wonder why.

We let ourselves get all caught up In matters so minute When in the end they seldom count They weren’t worth our pursuit.

What in your life would you rank first What goes right at the top Now’s the time to figure out Before the moments stop.

For me it’s you my loving wife You are first on the list My life would be so empty If we did not exist.

Next would come my daughters They bring such joy to me Day in, day out I’m thankful for The love they give so free.

Do we just watch the moments As grains flow through the glass Do we take full advantage Of how the seconds pass.

Those we love if here right now Should feel our love so true Please give them all the moments Before they stray from you.

An “I love you”, a little touch Will often make their day For those you so much cherish Take heed these words I pray.

When I am aged and weary I hope it’s said of me He didn’t watch those moments He used them fruitfully.

Take charge of fleeting moments Don’t let them drain away Use them to their fullest You’ll never then dismay.
