Bob Seger concert tour to stop at Palace of Auburn Hills in May

For all those anxious to hear word of Detroit-area dates on Bob Seger's much-anticipated spring tour:
An email from concert promoter LiveNation has announced a tour stop Thursday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Information about ticket prices and on-sale date are to be announced later. There's also no indication on whether this will be Seger's only southeast Michigan stop; his last tour featured several dates at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
Rock icon Seger, 65, grew up and started playing music in Ann Arbor, and became an international star while staying based in Michigan. His long career includes countless hits like "Night Moves," "Rock and Roll Never Forgets," "Against the Wind," and "Old Time Rock and Roll." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
His music has demonstrated considerable staying power: His "Greatest Hits" was the best-selling album on Billboard's catalog chart for the first decade of the 2000s. A short tour in 2006-07, including dates at Cobo Hall, was widely assumed at the time to be his concert swan song.
A number of tour dates have previously been announced from March into May, starting March 26 in Toledo. On the tour, Seger is expected to play songs from his back catalog as well as material from a forthcoming new album. (One track from the new album is streaming online.)
The Seger date creates an interesting combination for fans and followers of local rock history: Both of Ann Arbor's two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, both dating to the late 1960s, are appearing in the area this spring, exactly one month apart: Iggy Pop and the Stooges are playing the Michigan Theater on April 19 in a special tribute concert to the late Ron Asheton.

Concerts are as much about the experience as they are about the performers on stage. Sounds like most of the posters here would be sitting on your hands yelling down in front.

Age has been kinder to some other musicians (Neil young, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney). Bob looks and sounds every bit of his 60 plus years. He seemed old the last tour.

Seger sounds too weird now that he has to transpose all of his songs down a third or so. It's just not the same. It's like hearing a cocktail lounge singer so some Seger by request. I'm glad I got to see him in the old days. The only singer who can get away with changing the keys to any of his stuff once in awhile and still sound like himself is Neil Young.

How about the Big House memorial Day weekend? Bob Seger, Kid Rock, and Ted Nugent! David Brandon needs to think BIG.

@ Bob, I'd prefer the Sunspot Baby leg of the tour, but Katmandu is a viable option.

I's like to see him somewhere 12 hours out of Mackinac City, or perhaps out at Fire Lake.

Love his music! But last time I saw him, he looked a little long-in-the-tooth.
