Friends of Stanley The Madhatter, a longtime fixture on the Ann Arbor / Detroit music scene who died earlier this month, have organized a memorial benefit concert.
The show is set for 6 p.m. (doors) Thursday at the New Dodge Lounge, 8850 Jos. Campau in Hamtramck. Cover is $5.
The Shades of Blue of "Oh How Happy" fame headline the event. Also on the bill are the Rev. Marc Falconberry Blues Band, Crooked Joint and some surprise guests.
In addition to the music, Stanley memorabilia, a silent auction and speakers will be part of the evening.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the cost of cremation and disposition of his ashes as well as the costs to throw the wake. Madhatter —Â whose real name was Stanley Zillifro —Â had a hand in many aspects of music production over several decades in Ann Arbor and Detroit. For the last several years he lived in Ypsilanti.
