Aunt Agatha's Book Shop to celebrate 20 years and Real Seafood brings back its oyster and beer dinner this week

Take a "Classic Martini Lab" as part of Tammy's Tastings Cocktail Classes on Monday at Live/The Last Word (formerly Live at Pj's/Goodnite Gracie's). 7:30 p.m. Real martinis are made with gin ­and vermouth. You'll taste examples of each and test out proportions. Then you'll have some time to play, mixing and matching to build your perfect martini. Mystery lovers, be sure to attend Aunt Agatha's Book Shop "20th Anniversary Open House Celebration" on Wednesday. 4-7 p.m. They'll have several authors scheduled for signing and chatting each hour, along with cake and other refreshments available. It's time again for "Oyster Fest: Oyster & Beer Dinner" at the Real Seafood Co. on Wednesday. Enjoy a salad, entree and dessert included with unlimited, fresh, cold-water oysters and select micro-brewed beer from Short's Brewing Co., from Bellaire. The menu will include an autumn harvest salad; baked cod topped with wild mushroom ragu served over roasted vegetables and a pumpkin torte. $64.95 per person. Tax and gratuity included. The Ecology Center’s "Annual Fall Event" featuring Richard Jackson will be held at the Michigan Union on Thursday. General reception at 6 p.m. Dinner and presentation at 7 p.m. Jackson, one of the country’s most influential scholars on environmental health and its role in the design of sustainable communities whose work has reached a national audience through his role as author, host and narrator of the PBS series "Designing Healthy Communities." $90 for 2012 donors/members. $125 for non-members (ticket purchase includes membership).
