Lebanese singer Assi El Helani coming to Hill Auditorium

Lebanese singer Assi El Helani will perform at the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium on Saturday, in a concert sponsored by the University Musical Society.

Assi El Helani has been a major figure in the Middle East music scene of the since the 1990s, releasing a dozen albums.

With participation in high-profile festivals and concerts throughout Europe, the Arab world and America, he is regarded as one of the true superstars to emerge from Lebanon. While in Ann Arbor, Helani is slated to be honored with the University of Michigan’s King‐Chavez Parks Visiting Professorship. Chicago-based vocalist Doris Farhat and dabke band Leilena will be opening acts.

Tickets for the concert start at $10, and range up to $150 for a limited number of VIP seats. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 734‐764‐2538, online at the UMS website, or in person at the Michigan League Ticket Office, 911 North University Avenue. Watch a video of Assi El Helani:
