Ann Arbor Symphony seeking volunteers, interns

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, just about to begin its new season, is looking for volunteers to usher at concerts and perform a variety of other duties. The orchestra also has several internship opportunities available.

Volunteers are need for duties like posting fliers around town, labeling, doing mailings, helping with the orchestra's "instrument petting zoos" for kids, and ushering at concerts, including the season opener on Sept. 15 at Hill Auditorium.

Marketing Intern

Interns will work directly with the Marketing Manager to create publicity materials in a variety of mediums. All applicants must submit an original piece of work relevant to their specific area of interest: advertising, publicity, graphic design, &/or website design & development.

Education Intern

Interns will work directly with the Education and Outreach Director to create education materials and present educational concerts. Candidates must read music and have a passionate interest in music education for listeners of all ages.

Community Outreach Intern

Interns will work directly with the Education and Outreach Director to prepare and coordinate community concerts in Washtenaw County. Candidates must have exceptional writing skills and be prepared for gracious audience development.

Library Intern

Intern will aid the current librarian in sorting, scanning, copying, and generally preparing music for the musicians, either to be emailed to them or to be ready for pick-up before concerts. Intern will need strong organizational skills and a willingness to take direction. Hours will be anywhere from 5-10 hours to no hours a week, depending on the needs of the Symphony.
