Ann Arbor Garden Walk to showcase 6 local landscapes
Presented by the Ann Arbor Branch of the Woman's National Farm & Garden Association (Ann Arbor Farm & Garden), the walk will take in a quiet, flower-filled courtyard; a city lot overflowing with edibles; lush beds surrounding a historic home; and large properties featuring multiple areas of interest.
A group of local Ann Arbor garden painters will present a sale of original artworks created from the 2012 gardens over the past year, capturing the beauty of these unique landscapes in oils, acrylics, and other media. A Garden Marketplace, presented by Artistica Gallery in Dexter, will offer a variety of handcrafted garden-related merchandise, including pottery, jewelry, garden art, and more. Garden Walkers will also be able to tour the lower level of a home built in 1845, and at another site, view an installation of outdoor sculptures nestled throughout the garden from River Gallery in Chelsea.
Proceeds from the 2012 Garden Walk will benefit Growing Hope, an Ypsilanti-based non-profit dedicated to helping people improve their lives and communities through gardening and access to healthy food. Ann Arbor Farm & Garden's grant will also enable Growing Hope to benefit from matching funds under a separate challenge grant.
Garden Walk tickets are $15 per person in advance or at the gate and can be purchased online and at the following locations: Artistica Gallery, Dixboro General Store, Downtown Home & Garden, Matthaei Botanical Gardens, and Nicola's Books. A discounted rate of $10 per person is available to groups of 8 or more. Ticket information, a map and descriptions of the 2012 gardens are available at www.annarborfarmandgarden.org.
