Ypsilanti's longtime Theo's Bar sold, will reopen in January as The Wurst Bar
A staple on Ypsilanti's Cross Street for 37 years, Theo's Bar and Grill was recently sold and will reopen in January as The Wurst Bar, according to a Ypsilanti Courier report.
From Facebook
The Wurst Bar menu remains in flux, but will feature some unusual sausages — gator and crawfish, rabbit and venison and lamb and bison, according to the story.
The new bar plans to open Jan. 8 after some remodeling, managing partner Jesse Kranyak said.
Visit The Wurst Bar website or Facebook page for more information.

This has always been a college bar and mostly for the frats and sororities. I doubt the potential clientel in the area will go for rabbit and venison. How about starting with a real good burger. Give the Side Track some competition, they need it.

Don't worry about that Ralph, since we already grind our own burger at our summer restaurant and since we are already set up to grind all the sausages, we will also be offering a burger that we grind in house... The sausages aren't on the menu just for the college, hopefully we are offering food that everyone in Ypsi can enjoy! Thanks for the comments.

What a great idea! Totally different from the standard options around here, and the menu looks amazing. I have a feeling this place is going to bring a whole new vibe to the neighborhood....

Old news...what took so long for it to be reported? This was announced well before Christmas, and the new owners were there greeting people last week.

I would bet that the reason businesses are doing poorly in ypsilanti is because of this type of negativity. personally, i think the change is much needed in the area.

Flounder? They're specializing in meat sausages, Ypsi_Wings_Fan, not fish! [ ;-) ]

Really surprised if this is a success. Didn't know there were so many sausage aficionados on EMU's campus, because this area isn't know for bringing people into town. That being said, best of luck.

Kind of like laws, eh @smokeblwr? Again, unless you just happened to come up with that line yourself, give credit where credit is due (Otto von Bismarck): http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/o/ottovonbis161318.html

When I was a student, I tended to shy away from night spots that I knew would have too many hot dogs in the ball park. But that could just be me.
