Users will be able to make purchases by tweeting hashtags from their cellphones or computers.

Once they sync their card with a Twitter account, users will be able to tweet specific words or phrases, typed after the “#” symbol, to snag special deals. American Express has a $25 card for $15 that can be “bought” by tweeting the hashtag “#BuyAmexGiftCard25.”

Once a deal is claimed, users have to then tweet a “confirmation” hashtag that is tweeted at them by a special @AmexSync Twitter account. American Express plans to offer other items through the service, including a Kindle Fire HD and an Xbox 360.
