Ann Arbor's Underground Printing launches Jalen Rose clothing line
The screen printer-turned-retailer, located at 1114 S. University in downtown Ann Arbor, is selling two styles of long- and short-sleeve shirts with Rose's name on them. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Jalen Rose Charitable Fund.
Underground Printing will launch additional styles soon, co-owner Rishi Narayan said, and Rose will be at the store from 6-6:30 p.m. Tuesday - the day of the Michigan-Michigan State basketball game - to promote the clothing line.
"We'll slowly be expanding it as we get more traction," Narayan said. "Jalen has a lot of followers from all the teams he's played for."
Just don't expect to find Rose's products in some of Underground Printing's other Big Ten locations, such as Madison, Wisc., or West Lafayette, Ind.
"We're not going to be selling the Jalen Rose line in all our stores. I don't think all our stores would appreciate that as much as we appreciate it in Ann Arbor," Narayan said, laughing.
Rose played three years at Michigan, before playing 13 seasons in the NBA for Denver, Indiana, Chicago, Toronto, New York and Phoenix. He's now a television analyst for ESPN.
