By Ann Dwyer

“Zipsters” in Ann Arbor can breathe a sigh of relief. That Toyota they may be driving will not face more safety scrutiny under the announced recall.

Zipcar, the car-sharing program that allows members (or Zipsters) to borrow vehicles for a fee, had four Toyota Matrix cars in its Ann Arbor and University of Michigan fleets. They have been fixed and verified by Toyota, said Nancy Scott, director of corporate communications for Zipcar.

The Massachusetts based company pulled their Prius and Matrix cars from all of their fleets in January after concerns regarding the safety of the vehicles were brought to light, according to a press release on the company’s website.

There are 23 Zipcars between the two fleets in Ann Arbor. To learn more about Zipcar, visit their website at www.zipcar.com.
