Paparazzi: Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors' 2010 Environmental Awareness Award recipients

The Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors recently announced two recipients of the 2010 Environmental Awareness Award: Architectural Resource LLC And Meadowlark Builders.

Chosen by the Education Committee of the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors, the environmental award is presented to the Washtenaw County individual, organization, business, developer or builder who meets one or all of the following criteria:

• Businesses/Developers/Builders that use new products that contain recycled materials or energy saving qualities.

ʉۢ Businesses/Developers/Builders who consider the environment when they design subdivisions.

ʉۢ Organizations/Individuals who take steps to clean up environmental problems.

• Restoration and remodeling efforts that promote historical preservation and reuse materials.

• Businesses that have developed innovative recycling/reuse programs.

According to the AAABOR, the professional collaboration of Meadowlark Builders headed by Doug Selby and Kirk Brandon, and Architectural Resource headed by Michael Klement has been instrumental in bringing significant, paradigm changing, deep green projects to Ann Arbor over the past several years.

In 2008, they designed and crafted Michigan’s first USGBC LEED Platinum level certification whole house remodel, only the fifth in the entire nation. In 2009, they designed and crafted Michigan’s second USGBC LEED Platinum level whole house remodel with a home that has been dubbed the “Nautilus House” located at Evergreen Place. In 2010, their professional collaboration will complete Michigan’s third (pending) USGBC LEED Platinum level whole house remodel on Brooks Street.
