On the east side of town, guys in search of the perfect summer hairstyle have a new establishment to check out. Lady Jane’s Haircuts for Men is not your average barber shop; it’s a grooming salon specializing in men’s style services and cuts. Salon Director Brittany Rodgers tells me that business has been "awesome, and better than expected" since their opening on April 26.

Lady Jane’s opened as a single shop in St. Clair Shores and now has more than 15 other locations. The 3365 Washtenaw Ave. location is the first in Ann Arbor. Owner Chad Johnson has four other salons also in the works. “I’d being lying if I didn’t say the goal is to be nationwide as quickly as possible.”

What sets this salon apart? For starters, an open pool table, sports memorabilia, leather recliners and numerous flat-screen TVs. The company also touts itself as having beautiful stylists who work hard to create what the website calls “atmosphere.”

“This is the perfect place to send a guy who doesn’t like to bother with his hair; my husband goes with my blessing,” says one local patron.
