Meijer's Black Friday rules: 'No holding places'
Meijer, like most stores, issued a set of rules for Black Friday shoppers who had to stand in line early this morning for hot items.
But the rules - posted on a sign that confronts shoppers as soon as they enter the store - seem to offer conflicting guidance to bargain seekers.
Rule No. 1: "No chairs" in line. Easy to understand.
However, rule No. 2 and rule No. 3 seem to conflict. No. 2 says: "No holding places." But No. 3 proceeds to instruct: "You must stay in line or have someone stand in your place."
It's unclear whether you're allowed to hold someone's place in line.
Regardless, Meijer shoppers overcame the confusion to buy the products they want. At the Ann Arbor-Saline Road store, the iPod Touch was sold out by 6:34 a.m.

I didn't go out this morning, but 2 and 3 seem fairly clear. Holding someone's place means she joins you after she is finished napping in the car or running out for coffee. Standing in your place means you replace her, but she can't go in as well.
