MLive.com: Meijer is only Michigan company on list of fastest growing retail chains

It probably comes as no surprise to Michiganders that the fastest growing retail chain in the state is Meijers. What’s more, MLive’s Melissa Anders reports that the chain recently made the National Retail Foundation’s Hot 100 list of the fastest growing retail chains in the country.

Meijer checked in as the No. 88 chain on the list, which was led by Pheonix-based Sprouds Farms market. The Kroger Co. was No. 61, also with a strong Midwest footprint.

According to Anders, the National Retail Foundation’s STORES magazine estimated $16.6 billion in retail sales for Meijer last year. The company broke ground on its first Detroit location in May.

Washtenaw county Meijers can be found on Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Ann Arbor, Jackson Road in Scio Township and Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township.
