"It may seem like a small thing to some, but on a cold night our patients really appreciate being wrapped in a warm blanket when they are being transported for medical care," said Jerry Zapolnik, chief operating officer for HVA.

The blanket warmer units are carried in flexible bags and plugged into the ambulance’s power system. They can easily be unplugged and taken into a patient’s home, a hospital, nursing home or even to an accident scene.

Based in Ann Arbor, Huron Valley Ambulance is a nonprofit, community ambulance service covering Washtenaw, western Wayne and southwest Oakland counties.

Hi. Our "employee" is a licensed paramedic. If you could change that in the photo caption, it would be appreciated.
