Free Red Robin chili if Hell (Michigan) freezes over

The Red Robin burger chain is offering a reason to hope for temperatures to drop this week — if Hell, Michigan “freezes over” this week, stores across the country will be offering a free cup of chili to lucky patrons according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

If temperatures stay below freezing for a full day between Tuesday and Sunday, Red Robin will serve the first 100 customers in each of its stores a free cup of Chili on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

According to the Free Press report, Hell mayor John Colone will serve as Red Robin’s local weather expert for the week and will certify whether a full day of “frozen” weather occurs.

There are two Red Robins in the Ann Arbor area, one near Briarwood Mall, and one on Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township.

An unofficial source was quoted as saying "Red Robin has positioned a mobile weather station within the Hell city limits and will be tweeting minute by minute status to a flock of followers".

Since I made a big batch of chili tonight for supper I guess I'm not to excited about this PR ploy by Red Robin. But I think it is good advertising for both Hell and Red Robin and one of the more novel ideas I've seen lately.

I'm stuck in Augusta, GA most of the time and the only decent burger you can get here is at Red Robin.

I think this feat was met today. Don't see myself getting in line for free chili at 11:00 am on Tuesday, at Red Robin none the less, for chili. @A2.com, might be time for a best Chili piece, before the novelty wears off. I'd say you would have to include the DamSite Inn, one has to think Hell would have some damn hot chili.
