Chelsea Standard: Family Farm and Home opening in former Chelsea Pamida location

The discount chain store Pamida closed its doors on Dec. 31, 2010, after opening there in 1993. The store reopened in fall 2008 after a fire damaged the mall — and about $1 million in inventory — about five months earlier.

Family Farm and Home includes departments such as tools, hardware, automotive, pet, work and casual clothing, footwear, farm supplies, horse and livestock feed, bird food and lawn and garden.

The store plans to begin renovations of its 42,000 square feet of space by the end of June and is looking to open by August, according to the Standard report. About 14,000 square feet of the space is available for another tenant.

Founded in 2002, the Michigan-based Family Farm and Home operates 20 stores in the state and one in Indiana.
