Eye Gallery teams with Ozone House to offer free exams and glasses

By AnnArbor.com Staff

As of Friday, July 20, The Eye Gallery has teamed with Washtenaw County nonprofit Ozone House to provide free, comprehensive eye exams and glasses to children whose families are members of Ozone House. The children will be selected monthly by Ozone House staff from their two locations, in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor.

Ozone House is the only agency in Washtenaw County that provides free, confidential, and voluntary round-the-clock shelter and support services for runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth ages 10 to 20 and their families. It currently has one house each in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor.

The monthly participant will be chosen from all of the programs at both houses. The exam will be held at the location and time that is most convenient to the child. Ozone House is currently developing an internal process to identify youth who could benefit from this program as well as track participation in the program.

Optometrist Arnold Bulos, owner of The Eye Gallery, left the chain store where he worked and opened his own business in Ypsilanti earlier this year. The optometry office is located at 2048 Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti.
