Ann Arbor Township-based Domino’s Pizza introduced several new artisan pizzas to its menu this week, joining the list of menu reinventions the company has undergone in the past few years.

“We have never launched anything that showcases our quality ingredients and craftsmanship quite like artisan pizza,” said Patrick Doyle, Domino’s Pizza president and CEO, in a news release. “Consumers really need to see and taste these pizzas to believe them.”

There are three new flavors: Spinach and feta, Italian sausage and pepper trio and Tuscan salami and roasted vegetable.

In addition, the pizza comes in a signed pizza box that is penned by the store manager.

To market the new pizza recipes, the company launched a national television campaign today with an appearance from Fabio Viviani of Top Chef.

In late 2009, the company introduced a totally redesigned pizza recipe along with an aggressive marketing campaign, driving big sales increases for Domino’s in 2010. This year, the company also introduced new chicken products.

There are more than 9,000 corporate and franchised Domino’s stores in 60 countries.

"Artisan" - the latest word to promote perceived value. " Hmmm...must be very exclusive, made by food artists!"

Is this really here? This is a "story," excuse me "business story"? This is an ad. What is next, some hamburger chain has just announced that it is introducing a new topping, some exotic flavor known as guacamole, and the bun will be signed by the delivery person in hot sauce? This is not journalism, it is pollution!

Until Domino's is half as good as Papa John's I'm avoiding them. I tried the "new" pizza the week it came out and the sauce has a weird flavor to it.
