Canton Ikea store closed after sprinkler causes damage
The Ikea furniture store in Canton Township - a major shopping destination in the Ann Arbor region - is closed today after sprinklers malfunctioned and soaked parts of the store overnight, according to various reports.
Employees are assessing the damage, according to WXYZ, and the store could be closed for days, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The incident threatens to disrupt the critical holiday shopping season for Ikea.
"A sprinkler head broke sometime overnight, causing a significant amount of water to collect in the upstairs Showroom and downstairs Markethall areas," WXYZ reported.
The 311,000-square-foot store has reshaped the Ford Road corridor in Canton Township since opening in summer 2006.

Terrin-Oh and America wasn't built by slaves either right? So you're for reparations for African Americans too right? I mean, since you bemoan Chinese slaves not having any human rights. Please all of those Ikea haters get over yourselves! It's a great store, and I'm with Vernice, I also have a Poang chair it's simply wonderful! To think if Ikea were in A2, that's more of a fit than Canton, but the access to major highways was a draw for them especially customers from Ohio. Guess A2 thought they were to stuck up to lobby for Ikea, I mean, we had Pfizer and all, who needs a low brow store that could contribute to the tax base, offer jobs, spawn and support secondary business. Naw...not A2!

It would be nice if Ikea actually employed some people in the free world to build some of it's stuff. Instead, everything is made by slaves in China at the expense of people that actually believe in human rights.

Ikea has a lot of crap but some of it is pretty decent. It's great if you're just starting out furnishing a place and need to fill in some of the stuff that you couldn't find at garage sales/Treasure Mart/etc. but can't afford to get something really nice just yet.

I have to disagree with the negativity about Ikea. I'm lounging in my Poang chair with footrest, while sitting under my paper lamp right now. It's wonderful.

That's pretty good. Treat Ikea stuff as Erector set materials and make new stuff with it.
