B Young B Fit and Delicate Beauty Therapeutic Spa find new larger studio space in Ann Arbor

By Angela Smith

Don’t tell my hips, but it is almost swimsuit season. Don’t tell my toenails, but pretty soon much of their time will be spent occupying a pool deck as my kids attend swim practices and pool parties.

The glorious weather yesterday served as a reminder that most people try to get in shape before pulling out their summer attire, or at least do something to make them feel ready for the less fully clad days in their future. My realization comes at the same time that B Young B Fit and Delicate Beauty open their doors at their new shared studio space in Ann Arbor.

This weekend marks their grand opening celebration. The new location at 4585 Washtenaw Ave. is just down the road from where the studio once sat in Fountain Square Plaza in Ypsilanti. The new space is more than three times the size, and allows owners Brian Young and Nancy Dickerson to branch out and offer more services like group fitness classes and spa manicures and pedicures.

Dickerson, Delicate Beauty's owner, got used to offering mobile spa parties, but will now have the space to offer what she calls serious skin therapy: customized facials, body therapy, hair removal and spa nail treatments. The studio offers a full line of services in a style that she feels mimics the SoHo Dermalogica Studio. Her focus is on skin education, and making sure clients know what to do after getting a customized service to keep their skin in tiptop shape.

Young is the owner of B Young B Fit, an individualized personal training business. Young has been working as the head personal trainer and group fitness instructor at Eastern Michigan University since 2005, and has been working with B Young B Fit clients like the "The Biggest Loser’s" Pete Thomas since 2007. Like Dickerson, Young’s focus is on individualized programs that are specific to a client’s needs. Unlike a gym, he does not offer membership options, but instead tailors a fitness program to attain specific results. The studio also has the space to accommodate some of Young’s favorite group fitness classes like yoga, Zumba and BOFU Ball.

Today the new studio will open to the public with a customer appreciation day. Although both the fitness and beauty services seem to be reasonably priced, today’s one-day sale is a real deal. Call to book an appointment for a special $10 manicure, $15 pedicure, a free fitness assessment and discounted training packages.

Or check out the new facility, 4585 Washtenaw Ave. in Ann Arbor, on Saturday. From 1:30-7:30 p.m. you will find catered food, music, raffles and giveaways. Specialists will be available to discuss specialized skin care mapping and tailored fitness training.
