The Nov. 4 event, which drew about 400 attendees in 2011, draws a crowd of high-level business executives and nonprofit leaders from throughout Washtenaw County.

Top honors include Company of the Year and Executive of the Year. Deals of the Year awards will also be distributed in seven sector categories: construction and development, health care, nonprofits, commercial real estate, technology, research and retail.

The public is welcome to submit nominations here by Sept. 20. Nominees will be revealed in the seven sector categories during the last week of September. Winners are kept secret until the event. Nominees are not announced in the Executive of the Year and Company of the Year categories.

Tickets are available now for $95 for individuals or $885 for a 10-person table. The event will take place in the evening at Eastern Michigan University's Student Center. You can order tickets here.

Economic development group Ann Arbor SPARK's Fast Track awards — which honor the area's fastest-growing local companies — will also be distributed at the event.

The Ann Arbor Business Review — whose brand was absorbed by AnnArbor.com when it launched in summer 2009 — created Deals of the Year in 2005 to celebrate the most significant business decisions of the last 12 months.

Past winners of the Company of the Year award were Zingerman's (2010), Arboretum Ventures (2009), HealthMedia (2008), NSF International (2007) and Google (2006).

Past winners of the Executive of the Year award were serial entrepreneur Jeff Williams (2010), Esperion Therapeutics CEO Roger Newton (2008), former Pfizer site leader David Canter (2007), McKinley CEO Albert Berriz (2006) and Ann Arbor venture capitalist and now Gov. Rick Snyder (2005).

In 2009, instead of an Executive of the Year award, an overall Deal of the Year honor was given to the University of Michigan for acquiring the ex-Pfizer site.
