By AnnArbor.com Staff

Michael R. Tyson will be the new president and CEO of Nonprofit Enterprise at Work, which is based in Ann Arbor and has an office in Detroit.

The appointment, effective today, replaces former president and CEO Neel Hajra, who left the organization to work at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.

Tyson, formerly a senior vice president of Chase Bank, also worked with the city of Detroit. His business background includes real estate development in Detroit under his Residential Detroit Inc.

His nonprofit leadership includes positions with Warren Conner Development Coalition, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Urban League, Think Detroit and The Parade Company.

Tyson is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.

”We are very excited about the talents and strengths of our new President & CEO,” said Kurtis T. Wilder, chairman of NEW's Board of Trustees in a prepared release. “Over the past several years NEW has developed high-value, high-impact programs that benefit nonprofits throughout Southeast Michigan. Mike will help us grow these programs and expand their reach as NEW continues to provide needed support and resources to help nonprofits of all sizes and missions do more with less."
