Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce posts vacant president job
Applicants for Ann Arbor's next Chamber of Commerce president have until Nov. 27 to apply online for the position, according to the official posting of the job this week.
As officials have said since former president Jesse Bernstein resigned this summer, the capability to drive change appears to be among the top qualities sought by the search committee.
According to the posting: "The Chamber’s next leader will chart a new course, advancing the Chamber’s role as an advocate and resource for business in the community."
Incoming Chamber board President Karl Couyoumjian told AnnArbor.com in August that one chamber goal is to connect the city's traditional businesses with its emerging technology companies.
Changes already have started, even as a search committee for the new president shaped the job description.
New alliances started under interim President John Hansen include an affiliation with the LA2M - or Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing - that has both that group and the chamber co-marketing their events.
And the chamber recently announced it's making a new iPhone application available to boost member businesses.
Meanwhile, other attributes sought for the new president include a clear record as a change agent and innovator - and the ability to "create a vision for the Chamber in the 21st Century."
The position pays $85,000 to $100,000 per year. The chamber has about 1,200 members.
