Marnee Thai. Owned by the same management as Lotus Thai, Marnee Thai, is the second U.S. offering from The "Food Work" Business Group. Marnee means "gemstones," and this place aims to provide an elegant dining experience in a downtown location. Though it overlooks a gas station, the brightly lit interior is majestic and fancy, making for more sophisticated surroundings. The menu is identical to Lotus Thai, providing a variety of Thai favorites, as well as signature specialty dishes, like garlic shrimp, seafood with herbs and Lotus catfish, as well as several currry and noodle dishes. The space is slightly smaller than the Lotus Thai location, but just steps away from the downtown scene. HAPPY HOUR - Mon.-Fri., 5-6:30pm. $1 off beer, $5 wine by the glass, $4 spring rolls.
